Barbara Helen (Mcmillan) Amling

London, OH   Barbara Helen (McMillan) Amling, 97, died on August 4, 2022.  She was born on April 15, 1925 to Orville Dewey and Stella (Garrison) McMillan in Ashland County Ohio.  She graduated from New London High School in 1943 and went on to Ohio State University where she majored in Nursing and graduated with her BSN in 1947.  On March 15,1947 she married her college sweetheart Warren Eugene Amling who also graduated in 1947 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine.  After living in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Warren's hometown of Pana, Illinois, they moved to London, Ohio in 1956.  They raised their family in London where they both were very active in the community.  Barbara served on the board of the Madison County Hospital and was also a longtime volunteer at the hospital which is now Madison Health.  She was a 20 year volunteer with Meals on Wheels.  Barbara was a life member of the OSU Alumni Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary, The Coover Society and an avid bridge player.  In 1973 she began working as a public health nurse at the Madison County Health Department and retired in 1986.  Barbara was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and currently attended Trinity Episcopal Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Warren, son Michael D. Amling, daughter-in-law Carol Amling and grandson-in-law Jamey Shiffer.  She is survived by her children Timothy (Dorothy) Amling, Babs Amling (Scott LaVange), Patrick (Kathy) Amling, and daughter-in-law Karen Amling as well as grandchildren Dorrian Amling, Heidi Amling Shiffer, Sarah Amling, Elizabeth Amling and great-granddaughters Camille and Claire Shiffer. She is also survived by brother-in-law Jim (Carol) Amling and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

The family will receive friends at the Lynch Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 4 to 7 PM.  A memorial service will be held on 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father George Glazier presiding.  Interment will follow at Kirkwood Cemetery.
