Benjamin Paul Duty

August 6, 1966 — August 28, 2025

South Charleston

It is with immense sadness that the family of Benjamin Paul "Benji" Duty announce his unexpected and tragic passing on Thursday August 28, 2025, at 6pm in the evening. Ben was a proud 1985 London High School graduate who went on to become an electrician, welder and master of all!

He left behind his devoted wife of 30 years Teresa Duty, son Christopher Duty (Brooke) and his precious granddaughter Sawyer Belle of London, his sister Ronda Duty Bussey, brother Roosevelt (Gretchen), brother-in-law Mark, bonus brother and lifelong friend Pat (Roxy) Zimmerman, Mother-in-Law Patty Akers and Sister-in-Law Jolene Akers.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; Walter, Brandy, Amanda, Shane, Ryan, Megan, Brennan, Lacy, Jade, Luke, Abby, Ethan and Dominic, special Uncle Doug and Aunt Kathy, special lifelong friends Steve and Denise Nibert and Brian Hamilton who are like a brother and sister. He also leaves behind a bonus family who fiercely loved him throughout his life, The Zimmerman's.  Including David, Adam, John and Denise Adams, Mackenzie and JT, Olivia and Thomas, Johnny and Roseanne and Shiela Waugh.

Ben was a gentle man of few words who was kind and accepting, who loved his family and his cherished pets Seger, Lucy Lu and Mazie May. He believed in God, The Bengals and of course the OSU Buckeyes. He enjoyed an eclectic array of music and above all Lynard Skynyrd. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting birds off his porch, taking short trips on his Harley Davidson and completing all of his wives to do list! He most recently found a lot of joy with his co-workers at Adams Machinery and sharing his sqwishies with his little buddy Rhett.

I know everyone says their loved ones were the greatest, but Ben truly was one of the greatest. He would do anything for anyone, would protect his family and strangers alike when needed and literally give you the shirt off his back. He will be terribly missed forever, and this world has dimmed a little because of his absence.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Roosevelt Duty and Dorothy Masters, bonus parents Henry and Betty Jo Zimmerman, Father-in-Law James Akers, sister Roseann Stewart and bonus Sister-in-Law Glenda "Dado" Dennen.

We would also like to say thank you to all the co-workers who so valiantly tried to bring him back to us

There will be a showing at his home for all who loved him to attend on Friday September 5th from 6-8 at 3989 Woosley Rd South Charleston. Wear your most comfortable clothes, Bengals or OSU gear. Let's celebrate this cherished man and please keep his family in your prayers.
