London

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bert Hatfield Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on April 29, 2026. Born on January 31, 1947, in Pike County, Kentucky, Bert was the cherished son of Bert and Thelma Hatfield Sr.

Bert was a proud 1964 graduate of London High School, after which he answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Army. His service took him to Europe, where he forged lifelong friendships and learned invaluable skills that would shape his future.Known for his exceptional talents as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, and house builder, Bert was a true master of all trades. He took immense pride in constructing homes from the ground up, crafting not just structures but spaces where memories would be made. His ingenuity extended beyond building, as he could dismantle and rebuild an engine in a matter of days, a testament to his resourcefulness and dedication. Those who knew Bert will fondly remember his love for the outdoors, especially his joyful days spent boating and fishing.

Above all, he deeply cherished his family—his children Tracy Hatfield and Justin (Alyssa) Hatfield, grandchildren Ashley, Bradley, Devon, Ian, Rilynne, Elizabeth, and Serenity, along with several great-grandchildren. Bert is also survived by his good friends Eric Gordon, Steve Tipton, and Kenny Bill, whose steadfast companionship brought joy to his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Bonnie (Malone), children Mary Beth (Hatfield) Fries and Billy Hatfield, as well as his siblings Jimmy, Gene, Roy, Lincoln, Tommy, Edna, and dear friends Harry Pickens and Head Daily.

Funeral services for Bert will be held at a later date.
