London

Charles Edward Fordyce, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 11, 2025, after a valiant fight against Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on May 16, 1948, in Lebanon, Ohio, to Ralph and LaRue (Brown) Fordyce. Charlie, as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated athlete who loved the game of football. After graduating from Lebanon High School, he continued his passion for the sport at The Ohio State University under the guidance of legendary coach Woody Hayes, residing in the stadium dorm. His athletic journey continued at Ohio Northern University, where he not only thrived on the field but also earned a degree in Biology and a B.S. in Pharmacy. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing law school at Capital University. A cherished member of his local community, Charlie devoted his time to coaching t-ball, football, and track and field at Bishop Ready High School. His commitment to youth sports exemplified his belief in the power of teamwork and perseverance. In his professional life, Charlie made significant contributions to the field of pharmacy, practicing in numerous hospitals throughout central Ohio where he formed many lifelong friendships. He was also known for his deep love for horses and his unwavering support for his favorite teams: the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Family gatherings were enriched by Charlie's enthusiastic spirit, especially during the annual celebrations of his beloved Buckeyes beating TTUN. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Beth (Hohman) Fordyce; his children, Charles Ross and Heather, Jay and Allison, and Kyle and Amanda; and his beloved grandchildren, Rory, Josie, Olivia, Will, Wyatt, Cora, Ben, and Primrose; and his siblings, Ronnie and Nancy, Dave and Beth, and Cathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and LaRue Fordyce. The family is profoundly grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Sage Park and Suncrest Hospice during Charlie’s illness. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather at the St. Patrick’s Parish Center, 61 South Union Street, London, Ohio 43140, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Rosary to begin promptly at 7:00pm.
