Charlotte K. McIntosh, 93, of London, OH, formerly of East Hartford, CT, went to meet her Lord and Saviour peacefully, with family by her side, Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. She resided in East Hartford for most of her life before moving in with her daughter in early 2020. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Charlotte will always be remembered for her smile and devotion to family and friends.
Born November 23, 1931, in Brookton ME, Charlotte grew up as one of 10 children born to the late Lydia and George W. Knights. She is survived by one sister Florence Potter of Wytopitlock, ME and a brother Rodney Knights of Raymond, ME.
At the age of 17, Charlotte moved to Portland, ME, lived at the YWCA while working part time and training to be a secretary. After gaining her secretarial skills, she was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. She met her soon to be husband while they both were living in a boarding house in West Hartford, CT. On September 15, 1951, Charlotte married the love of her life, Joseph Paul McIntosh. They were together for over 70 years until his death a few years ago. She left Pratt & Whitney when she was pregnant with her second child, choosing to do her favorite thing, taking care of her husband, children, and home. She loved keeping a spotless home, baking pies and tollhouse cookies, plus cooking three meals a day for her family. A special weekly tradition for Charlotte was making fresh baked bread, donuts, and pancakes every Saturday. In 1973 she went back to work, working for Morland Valve in Manchester, CT. She worked there until the doors closed in 1994. At that time, Charlotte was 63 years old, so she and Paul decided to retire and travel. They purchased a home in Winter Haven, FL in 1996. Living the winter months there and the other 6 months in CT. In 2016 the trip back and forth became too much, sold the home in FL, and moved permanently to their home in East Hartford.
Then in 2020, they made the hard decision to leave East Hartford and move to London Ohio, to live with their daughter, Janet and son-in-law Rick, until their deaths.
