London

David Michael Hume of London, OH passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born in Columbus, OH on January 16, 1938, the son of Wilbur and Virginia (Ellies) Hume. Dave graduated from London High School, class of 1956 and attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where he played football and lacrosse and forged friendships that lasted a lifetime. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps achieving the rank of Captain and embodying the values of leadership and integrity. He returned to London in 1966 after his service and worked alongside his father in their family's clothing store before becoming a founding partner in a local real estate business. His community spirit was evident through membership in the London Rotary which honored him with the Paul Harris and 4 Way Test awards, recognition as a Bell Ringer by the Chamber of Commerce, and engaging performances in the London Community Theater. Dave had unwavering faith and was a lifelong member of London First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and member of the choir. His dedication to family was profound, exemplified in his role as caregiver to his cherished wife Carma during her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Dave drew immense joy from sharing his love with others and being a father and grandfather, and he reveled in creating lasting memories with his children and grandchildren. With his warm heart and lively spirit, Dave was a true master of laughter, effortlessly brightening any room and striking up conversations with ease. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family in Pentwater, MI. He enjoyed running, long walks, skiing, sailing and occasional hikes and canoe trips with his good friends and family. He is survived by his children: David S. (Amy) Hume, Steve (Kari) Hume, and Ginger (Rod) Kronk. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren: Madeline (Jonathan Vera) Hume, Rowan Hume, Rachel Hume, Sarah Hume, Jacob Hume, Garrett Kronk, and Miller Kronk, as well as his great-grandson, Santiago David Vera-Hume. He is also survived by his beloved partner, Carole O'Connor; aunt, Carol Moorehead; sister-in-law, Sandy Calhoun; and numerous family and friends who will miss him dearly. David is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Carma, his sister Gloria Hume Daly, and brother-in-law Robert Calhoun.
