David James Proffitt

David James Proffitt, 70, died November 18, 2019. He was born March 21, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded by his parents Robert J. Proffitt and Dorothy Ellen (Powers) Proffitt.

Survived by brother R. Joe (Jennifer Larkin) of Newburg, Missouri; son Paul (Victoria) of New Albany, Ohio; daughter Holly Hunt (Aaron) of Plain City; grandchildren Vivienne, Alexandra Proffitt, James, Wyatt, Gatlin and Morgan Hunt; nieces and nephews Connor, Kalli, Brynn and Rhys Proffitt.

David was a lifelong golfer and an active member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA). He gave lessons and taught golf techniques at numerous golf courses in and around central Ohio. He was involved with the central Ohio Irish dance and Irish cultural activities community. David taught and danced with various schools and often performed at the St. Patrick’s Day Reunion and Dublin Irish Festival. He was a past member of the Shamrock Club and Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Patrick Pearse Division. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, London, St. Simon & Jude Catholic Church, West Jefferson or the PGA (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) Sothern Ohio.

The family invites friends to call at the St. Patrick Parish Center on Saturday from 9:00 AM to time of Mass at 11:00 AM, with Father Michael Hinterschied officiating.
