Dixie Dill
December 6, 1937 – May 20, 2026
"A life with love is a life that has been lived."
Dixie Dill, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly, on the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Born in Lawton, Kentucky on December 6, 1937, Dixie lived a life rooted in hard work, tradition, and devotion to her people. She retired from Stanley and spent many years working at the family-owned Brown’s Pizza and Grocery, where she was a familiar and welcoming face to all who walked through the door.
Dixie was a woman who found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sitting on her porch under the warmth of the sun, quietly watching the squirrels and the birds—especially the red cardinals that visited her. A dedicated sports fan, she passionately cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes and her beloved Cincinnati Reds. One of her most treasured traditions was never missing an Opening Day game, a special bond she shared for years with her father.
Above all, Dixie was the heart and anchor of her massive, loving family. She looked forward to hosting every single holiday, filling her home with warmth and laughter. Some of her happiest moments were spent gathered around the table playing fierce games of Aggravation, or sitting on the coast during large family vacations, quietly drinking her morning coffee while watching the ocean waves.
A Special Thank You
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude and a special thanks to Dixie’s sister, Janet, and her grandchildren, Allie, Bri, Makayla, Stacy, and Alyssa, for their unwavering support, profound dedication, and tender care over the past few months.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Ova and Dorothy (Roseberry) Brown; her brothers, Frank, Ken, and Vernon; her twin siblings, Phyllis and Gary; her son, John Gerald Dill; her sons-in-law, Mike Kingery and Randy Zink; and her grandchildren, Johnny Gerald Dill Jr., Hunter Dill, and Samuel Wilkins.
Her incredible legacy of love lives on through her surviving family, including her sister, Janet (Bill) Ervin; and her children, Teri Wilkins, Sharon (Ernie) Stone, Larry Dill, Gary (Lynn) Dill, Susie Kingery, Marilyn Zink, Jackie (Alisha) Dill, and Patty (WO) Near. Dixie was also the proud, doting grandmother to 46 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at Lynch Family Funeral Home, 124 East High Street, London, Ohio 43140.
