*Update* Miss Donna as she was lovingly referred to by so many, touched the lives of a large number of children. As a way to track the children she cared for who will be attending her services on Saturday, a glass jar will be placed next to the register book, if you were one of her students and have one dollar to spare we ask you place it into the jar. At the end of the evening we will be counting the dollars to see how many of her "babies" came through. All the money collected will then be donated to the Madison County Humane Society in Miss Donnas Memory.
Donna Lucille (Rittenhouse) Pruitt, 79, of London, Ohio, passed away on March 2, 2025. Born on July 18, 1945, in Fayette County, Ohio, Donna was the beloved daughter of Ralph and Oletha Rittenhouse.
A graduate of Greenfield McClain High School class of 1964, Donna dedicated her life to family and nurturing. Embracing her role as a proud mother and housewife, she later worked at GC Murphy’s in Washington Courthouse. Her heart found a home at the Presbyterian Childcare Center in London, where she devoted over 40 years, positively impacting the lives of more than four generations of children, instilling love, kindness, and the joy of learning.
Donna's life was colored with simple pleasures: she cherished long evenings spent watching murder mysteries, diving into the thrilling worlds crafted by Dean Koontz, and pursuing her creative passions through cross-stitching and crocheting. She lovingly created blankets for the little ones under her care at the daycare and crafted beautiful Christmas tree skirts and comforters for her family, each stitch infused with her love.
Family was paramount in Donna’s life, and she found great joy in the company of her cherished dogs, Chloe Belle and Dory. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Marie (Tate Jackson) Mock and Kim (Ron) Mullins, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Justin (Tonia) Shunk and Ashley (Brian Lynch) Shunk. Her heart will forever be touched by her great-granddaughter, Annemarie Shunk, along with her siblings Ruby Cave and Raymond (Judy) Rittenhouse, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donna is now reunited in peace with her husband of 48 years, “Jr.” Pruitt, her twin daughters Crystal and Cheryl Birkhimer, and her siblings Elsie (Robert) Howard and Mary (Harry) Haines, brother-in-law Jack Cave, and son-in-law Robert Charleston.
In remembrance of Donna's loving spirit, the family invites friends to gather at Lynch Family Funeral Home, located at 124 East High Street, London, Ohio 43140, on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Friends are welcome to pay their respects from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a service that will commence at 5:00 PM. After the service, a gathering of fellowship will take place at the Madison County Vineyard, 106 Olive Street, London, Ohio 43140, to celebrate her life and the memories we hold dear.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Donna’s memory to the Madison County Humane Society, honoring her love for animals and their well-being.
Donna will be deeply missed, her vibrant spirit living on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
