Heaven gained a beautiful, loving, kind, and caring soul on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Henry Lee Lindsey was welcomed into paradise surrounded by his wife Jackie, his daughter Amy, his two grandkids Dario and Sophia, his brothers Jim (Cheryl) & David (Karen), and immediate family.
Henry met the love of his life, Jackie, in Big Plain, Ohio when he was 12 and she was 10 years old. After she rode on his bicycle handlebars, she knew it was for life! Henry and Jackie got married in 1972 and their daughter Amy was born. Henry graduated from Madison Plains High School in 1974 with academic honors, was on student council, and graduated 11th in his class. They have been happily married for over 53 years and have enjoyed countless memories in the four years of their retirement together, especially their coffee drinking and ‘The Price is Right’ shows. Simply put, they enjoyed being together, shopping, dining out, or ‘shooting the breeze’ while sitting on their new deck.
Henry worked on the Double EE Farm for 10 years with Dick Hughes, a lifelong friend and mentor. After farming, he worked at Travelers Insurance. Henry retired in 2020 from American Orthopedics where he built orthotics & prosthetics for over 11 years.
Henry was a man of God, through his words and actions. He attended and was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Gospel Church in West Jefferson, where he was a Deacon. Henry and Jackie raised their daughter, Amy, in the church. He was a Sunday school teacher and often drove the bus to bring families to church.
Henry was a member of the Madison County Senior Citizen Center and a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed NASCAR, Ohio State Football, politics, gardening, car shows, air shows, fishing, arrowhead hunting, P-51 warplanes, visiting and talking with veterans, and he loved America. Henry built a 1967 Nova by hand and loved going to the Cobra Show in London. Henry made his famous chili and salsa, which we will dearly miss. Henry was a World War II and western movie enthusiast and love collecting stamps and baseball cards. He was also a dog lover. Henry was a man’s man, and made those around him better, while also showing love, compassion, and wisdom.
But most of all, Henry loved his family, especially his wife Jackie, daughter Amy, son-in-law Andrew, and grandkids Dario and Sophia. From a young age, Henry taught his grandkids what family meant. He loved going to ball games, attending grandparent’s day at school, talking politics, religion, and sports on the phone, and simply being around his family. Grandpa Henry made a point to make Dario and Sophia feel special. Henry enjoyed going to the zoo, Kings Island, Cocoa Beach, airshows, festivals, fairs, and enjoyed holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Grandpa annually spent the night on Christmas Eve with his daughter, son-in-law and grandkids - a great memory. Henry was proudly and actively involved in his grandkids and daughter’s lives, which they are very thankful for. They are better because of him.
Additionally, Henry enjoyed spending time with all three brothers and sisters-in-law along with their families, Kenny (Karen), Jim (Cheryl), and David (Karen), regularly fishing, cooking out, golfing, dining out, working on cars or in the garden, and enjoyed holidays. Henry loved his three brothers very much and is thankful for the great memories they created.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Mildred, his father Sylvester “Beck,” his brother Kenny (Karen), his mother-in-law Rosalie, and his father-in-law Chancy “Bud” Cummins, along with his grandparents, extended family, and friends.
Henry leaves behind a family who adores him and will greatly miss him including his wife Jackie, his daughter Amy (Andrew), his grandkids Dario and Sophia, his brothers Jim (Cheryl) Lindsey, David (Karen) Lindsey, his nephews and nieces Kevin Lindsey, Kristy (Kevin) Riley, Rena (Daniel) Call, Aaron (Victoria) Lindsey, and Andy & Katie Lindsey. Great nieces and nephews Lance, Lindsey, Lane, Abi, Callen, Zane, and Bria. Cousins Bobby & Dean (Penny) Biddle, Brandon, Bryce, and Brittney. His friends, Dick Hughes, Hubert Williams and Mike Countryman. Church family including Karen (Bob) Wells, Frank (Dorothy) Ford, and Henry’s Pastor Chris (Crystal) Werner. All are excited to see Henry in Heaven one day!
