James “Jim” Russell Tackett, a cherished resident of London, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, community service, and adventure. Born on November 25, 1954, in Paintsville, Kentucky, Jim was the beloved son of Ellis and Alka Tackett.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Jim brought his dedication and work ethic to various roles throughout his life. He spent over a decade at General Motors and later brought his vibrant spirit to the Darby House as an event organizer. Jim’s heart was deeply rooted in his community, where he thrived on giving back; he particularly found joy in volunteering at The Help House. An enthusiastic traveler, Jim loved exploring new places, often embarking on long drives across the states. His passion for storytelling shone through his love of reading, especially the compelling works of Stephen King. When not reading or traveling, Jim could often be found enjoying the thrill of the casino or relishing a meal at his favorite spot, Schmidt’s in German Village.
Jim's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Nina; his children, Shawn and Justin Scott; his siblings, Jr. and Art Tackett; three adoring grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and his good friend Chuck Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Tackett, and his beloved son, Ben Tackett.
