Janet Elaine (née Lingg) Eilerman of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 6th, just days shy of her 91st birthday. Born on February 9th 1934, Janet was raised and attended school in Dayton Ohio. After graduating from Julienne High School, she married the charming Henry "Jerry" Eilerman, on September 16th 1953. Together, they raised two daughters Karen Sue and Sharon Ann in Kettering, Ohio.
A thoughtful, gracious, and avid book reader herself, Janet was passionately committed to her duties as a librarian at Ascension School for over forty years. She remained a longtime Church volunteer, most memorably in the bingo hall during Ascension's annual summer festival. Janet enjoyed weekly card games with family and cousins, family get-togethers, garage sales, and vacations to the coastal beaches of Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Janet loved watching her sports. She was a proud fan of the Cincinnati Reds and as well as the Bengals, The Ohio State University, and UD; rarely missing the chance to catch the latest scores. She attended Mass regularly, and bingo religiously. As a child, Janet survived polio as well as breast cancer in her later years. Janet was a longtime active member of her local food pantry and participated in several charities through Ascension. She was truly an inspiration for her volunteer work in the community. Janet had a sweet fondness for animals and sent monthly donations to her local animal shelter. She took immense joy in her grandchildren sharing a special bond with each one of them. Janet was also especially proud of her great grandchildren and delighted in her role as a great grandmother. Her grand pets, Sue and Zip were also a great comfort to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Curtis Lingg. Loving husband Henry "Jerry" Eilerman, brothers Don, Chuck, and Norman Lingg. She survived by daughters Karen Hatfield (Steve Bordelon), and Sharon Drerup (Kyle Smith). Grandchildren Justin Shipley, Kimberlee Bromer, Steven (Loretta) Drerup, Sarah Drerup (Travis Carpenter), Daniel Bromer (Apryl Dotson), and Shelby Drerup. Great grandchildren, Ivy Mae Bromer, Rhett Henry and Beau Michael Bromer and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be held at Ascension Church, on Monday March 10th at 11 am with lunch following at noon. An intimate graveside service for the immediate family will be held at 2 pm that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations on Janet's behalf to be made to a local animal shelter.
