BOBO, LARRY H.
Larry H. Bobo joined the love of his life in the hereafter on Wednesday, January 21, after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 80.
Born on June 29, 1945, in Cook’s Station located in Fayette County, Ohio, Larry spent his formative years growing up in White Oak and attended Madison South High. He met his forever love Beverly Ann Nixon on August 8, 1963, and they married March 3, 1964. Their matrimony brought them 4 children and 54 years together until her untimely heavenly departure on April 4. 2018.
Larry was known for his funny and quick wit, sarcastic humor and sheer orneriness. A natural talent in auto mechanics, Larry was often called on as the go-to for friends and family to help them with many home and auto repairs. He loved helping with his kids and grandkids 4-H and band projects. He was a true and lifelong dedicated NASCAR fan. Larry and his wife Bev were members of the Buckeye Sidebanders CB Club in West Jefferson and were known as Big Blue and Blue Velvet. He and his wife enjoyed many years together in their passions of gardening, yard projects, bird watching, and their two beloved dogs Rusty and Bubba. Since his wife’s departure, he continued to appreciate time visiting with family and friends on his front porch.
Larry worked in several trades in his younger years but ultimately settled on dump truck and semi-truck driver and even owned his own trucks at different periods of time. Many years into his retirement Larry was able to enjoy working with his grandson Mitchell in his security business.
Larry was especially close with his father growing up and was the youngest boy of 13 children to parents, Levi Roy Bobo, Sr., and Tressie Carolyn (Penwell) (nee Bobo) Gossard whom preceded him in death. He lost many siblings over the years including brothers William “Bill”, Thomas “Tom”, Bobby “Bob”, and James “Jim”; half-brother Robert Moore, half-sisters Florence Spangler and Virginia Bobo; sisters Barbara Bobo, Mary Dotson, Sheri Mansfield, Betty Summers and Joan Bowen; sisters-in-law Donna, Rose, Nancy, Erma Jean, and Dottie; brothers-in-law William “Billy” Nixon, Ross “Bud” Nixon, Charlie Dotson, Vic Wood, and Robert Summers; and his father and mother-in-law Ed and Cecil Nixon.
