Lois Sant Newman

August 10, 1958 — September 5, 2021

London

On September 5, 2021, Lois claimed her place in Heaven as a faithful servant of Christ.

Lois had a spirit that would light up any room she walked into. Lois enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed vacations to the ocean, shopping and going to antique malls and flea markets.

In spite of her significant health issues over the last 6 years, she never lost her faith and her positive attitude in her times of trial were an inspiration to all those who crossed her path.

She is survived by her spouse of 36 years Duane Newman and sons Blake Newman of Beavercreek, OH and Blair Newman of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her siblings Lynn (Mike) Musick of Mount Vernon, Keith (Vickie) Sant of Mount Vernon, Karl (Sally) Sant of Gahanna and Leah (Bob) Slawson of Columbus. She was preceded in death by parents Earl and Anna Sant and brothers Kingsley Sant and Ken Sant.

Lois was a 1976 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and a 2015 graduate of Ohio Christian University with a BA in Ministry. Lois had 26-year career at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus in various administrative roles. Upon leaving Battelle, she started and successfully ran for several years her own company called Another Hand, which provided administrative support service to small businesses.

Obeying a call from her Lord she pursued a degree in Ministry at the age of 52 and graduated, in spite of dealing with major brain surgery.

Lois was a two-time breast cancer survivor and was very active in the Madison County Relay for Life, serving as event emcee. She was also very active in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Program often speaking at events providing inspiration to other cancer survivors. She served as an Ambassador for the Columbus American Cancer Society and was an advocate for ACS, promoting breast cancer awareness among US Congress members.

Lois was passionate about bringing others to the joy of Christ and served as a table leader several times for the Central Ohio Emmaus Community Women's Walks.
