Washington Court House

Marjorie Jean Dennen, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on January 30, 2025, at Ohio State University Hospital East at the age of 81. Born on July 27, 1943, in Spring Valley, Ohio, Marjorie was the daughter of Walter and Cena Montgomery.

Marjorie attended Graham Local School District, she dedicated much of her life to serving others alongside her loving husband, Ronald Dennen. Together, they established popular local restaurants, including Ron and Jean's Iron Skillet in London, Blue Point Restaurant in South Charleston, and The Twist Top Dairy Queen in Jeffersonville. These establishments were not just places to eat; they became cherished gathering spots where stories were shared and friendships flourished.

Known affectionately as "Happy Feet," Marjorie found joy in dancing, and her spirit resonated through every step she took. A avid card player, she cherished the time spent with her brothers, sharing laughter and good-natured competition at the table. Her heart was deeply rooted in family, and the holidays—especially Christmas—held a special place in her heart. She had a delightful way of keeping things light and humorous, often saying, “I’ll let you go now, I won’t keep ya,” a phrase that will forever echo in the hearts of her loved ones.

Marjorie is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 65 years, Ronald Dennen; her daughters, Rhonda Kay Glispie, Roberta Sue Oyer (Dave), Melissa Jean Schablin (Lonny), and April May Hawkins (William); and her beloved son, John Allen Dennen (Sam Abdul). She also leaves behind a treasured legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with her siblings: Janice Wyrick, John (Diane) Montgomery, Lynn (Belinda) Montgomery, Jeff (Barb) Montgomery, and sister-in-law Bev Montgomery.

She joins in eternal rest her daughter Cena Marlene Dennen, son-in-law Charles Neal Glispie, great-granddaughter Aniyah Lynn Smith, and her brothers Jerry, Tom, and Bobby. Marjorie was also preceded in death by close friends Charlie and Clair Brown, who meant the world to her.
