Mary Virginia Courtright, 92, of London, Ohio went to be with her Lord the morning of April 19, 2026, at Bluebird Retirement Community.
Born November 22, 1933, in Lawrence County, Illinois to Aleck Richard and Mary Ellen (Hershey) Talley. She married Galen Eugene Courtright on December 13, 1952.
Virginia was preceded in death by her brothers Donald, Robert, Charles, Edward, and Gerald Talley. She was also preceded in death by her son Michael Courtright, and her grandson Jeffrey Courtright.
Surviving is her husband of 73 years Galen, her children Terrence (Phyllis), Marilyn (Ron), and Scott. Also surviving Virginia are her six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia supported her husband in his role as pastor, including teaching Sunday School and Children’s Church. She held various executive secretarial positions in her long secular career. After retiring she continued to be active organizing blood drives for the Red Cross.
Prior to her battle with Alzheimer’s disease, she was considered the historian of the family. Whenever asked she could quickly give dates and details of family events.
Visitation will be held at Lynch Family Funeral Home, 124 East High Street, London, Ohio 43140, on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 9:00am to 10:00am. There will be a private service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio immediately following the visitation.
The family would like to thank the Bluebird staff for their excellent care of Viginia. The nurses and nurses’ aides treated her like family. The administrative staff were always helpful and supportive.
Thanks also to the hospice staff at Affinity Care, who were invaluable during her health decline. The nurses, chaplain, and social workers were all excellent at providing care for Virginia as well as support for the family.
