Mary Ellen (Weisman) Buchanan

March 6, 1956 — July 22, 2025

South Charleston

Our beloved momma Mary ascended to eternal peace July 22, 2025, surrounded by an outpouring of love and support. We're deeply grateful to everyone who came to celebrate her ending of life, offering hugs, tears, and heartfelt condolences. Your selfless presence was a testament to the profound impact she had on our lives. We extend our sincerest appreciation to the Hospice nurses, aids, local EMS, and village Police, who demonstrated remarkable compassion and kindness. Thank you from the depths of our souls. Your love and solidarity have rekindled a sense of community and togetherness we'd been missing for far too long. Witnessing the strength and vulnerability of our loved ones, especially the tough guys we grew up with, has left an indelible mark on our hearts. The memories of us sisters finding solace in your embracing arms will forever be etched in our minds as a beacon of hope and resilience. Mary was a gifted and passionate musician, known for her remarkable ability to play piano and sing by ear. Her love for music flourished in the uplifting atmosphere of the Apostolic Church in Columbus, where she sang with joy and conviction. A talented self-taught seamstress, she dedicated countless hours to sewing beautiful garments for her many siblings, a testament to her nurturing nature and creativity. She cherished the simple pleasures in life, whether it was dancing slowly with her children and grandchildren, tending to her vibrant garden, or simply enjoying the great outdoors. Above all, her greatest joy came from being a devoted mother and a loving "Memaw" to her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her daughter, Melanie Hunter, and her daughter Kellie (Tim) Weiler. She will also be missed by her siblings: Larry (Esther) Weisman, Susan (Bill) Cordle, Donna Butcher, and Terry (Debbie) Weisman, along with her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Black who took special care of her, Gabe Weiler, and Leah Black. In addition, she leaves behind numerous nieces and one nephew who will carry her memory forward. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents Arthur and Betty Weisman, the love of her life, Ray Buchanan, her siblings Sharon (Ron) Frizzell, Sarah Weisman, and her best friend, Marsha. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
