Nancy J. Armfelt (Pearce), age 87, passed away on May 21, 2026 at Bluebird Retirement Community. A long time resident of London, Ohio, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and neighbor.
Born August 10, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio, Nancy was the daughter of Howard and Margaret (Johnson) Pearce, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School where she met the love of her life, Floyd.
Floyd and Nancy were married in 1958 and together they created a home filled with laughter and traditions that brought family and friends together year after year.
For many years, Floyd and Nancy proudly owned and operated Armfelt Nursery, a beloved family landscaping business known for its hard work and dedication to the community. Through their business, they built lifelong relationships with customers and the people who worked for them.
Nancy took great pride in making her house a home - it was always spotless and welcoming to everyone who walked through the door. More than anything, she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with Molly, Abby, Cooper, & Mila. Going to “Nanny’s” house always meant candy, a surprise gift basket, and a sweet treat.
Nancy is survived by her children, Doug (Kelly) Armfelt of London, and Susan (Jeff) Young of Carroll, Ohio; grandchildren Molly (Cody) Meade, and Abby (Levi) Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Nancy’s “sunshine boy” Cooper Meade and her “little baby doll” Mila Meade; sister in laws Carol Freeman and Madeline Riscili, several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close family friends: The Cuccio Family, Rodney Rucker, Tom Morris and her dear neighbor, Dorothy Henry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, baby girl Jody, her parents, her brother Harold (Pep) Pearce, father and mother in-law Walter and Catherine Armfelt, brother and sister in-laws Vernon and Genevieve Reutter, David and Olive Armfelt, and brother in-law Frank Riscili. Also by several close friends that we find comfort in knowing she is with again, likely throwing a big party like Floyd & Nancy used to host at their home on East High Street.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bluebird Retirement Community and Affinity Hospice and Palliative Care for their care in the last few weeks.
In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, there will be a private family service conducted by Pastor Joel Kocher of West Jefferson Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
