Oscar Charles “Charlie” Roark, age 94, formerly of London, Ohio, died April 24, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Wakefield, Ohio on September 14, 1929, and was the son of the late Pearl and Ethel (May) Roark.
Charlie graduated as valedictorian of the Fairfield High School Class of 1948 in Madison County, Ohio. He was a member of the London First United Methodist Church and a member of the Chandler Masonic Lodge No. 138. He retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio and the Ohio Army National Guard. In addition, he served his community as a member of the London City Council for multiple terms.
Surviving family members include two children, Julie (Richard) Clark of Marysville and Phil (Adair) Roark of Summerville, SC; two grandchildren Chandler and Charlie Roark; one sister, Barbara Davis of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Judith “Judy” Turvy Roark, parents, brothers Guy Roark, Harold Roark, and Donald Roark, and sister Helen Henson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 2nd from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Lynch Family Funeral Home in London, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on Friday May 3rd at 10:00 am with interment immediately following the service at Somerford Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or The Ohio State Fund for the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University Foundation (University Square North, 14 E. 15th Ave, Columbus, OH, 43201).
