Paul E. Bussey

April 11, 1942 — November 4, 2025

London

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather, and loving Brother Paul E. Bussey, after, a sudden illness departed this life on Tuesday, November 04, 2025. Surrounded by his loving family at the Kobacker House.

Dad was born April 11, 1942, in Florence Switch, (outside of London, Ohio) to Grover and Esther (Tatman) Bussey

He is survived by his daughters Arlene (Dave) Morrow of South Charleston, Lavonda (Bobby) Long of London, Paula Bussey of Wilmington, and April (Chris) Lemaster of South Charleston. Grandchildren Becky (Nate) Mohler of South Charleston, Sarah (Mitchell) Burton of South Charleston, Lauren (Michael) Catoe of Marysville, David (Tangi) Smith of Sedalia, Deanna (Rachelle) Smith of South Charleston, Jordan (Brooke) Long of Prospect, Jacob Long of London, Candice Dillion of Washington Courthouse, Alex (Kelsea) LeMaster of London, Nathan (Elizabeth) LeMaster of South Charleston, Courtney (Ryan Sullivan) LeMaster of Plain City, Victoria (Gillen) LeMaster of Columbus, and numerous great grandchildren. Sister Kathy Samson of London, Sister’s in law Marilyn Bussey of London, Alice Bussey of South Solon. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was preceded in death by both of his parents, Loving wife of 34 years Debbie (Parker) Bussey, First wife Becky (Hunt) Bussey , Stepbrother's and their spouses Walter (Lois) Bussey, Raymond, and Herbert Bussey all from London, Brother’s and spouses Marion (Norma) Bussey of Georgia, Gene Bussey of London, Glenn (Jean) Bussey of South Charleston, William “Bill” Bussey of South Solon, and infant brother Chester. His Sister’s and spouses Marie (Chet) Finney of South Charleston, Lois (Charles) Earls of South Charleston, Elsie (Paul) Windle of Saint Paris, Linda Lowe Bussey of California, infant sister Esther. Infant grandson Micheal David Smith of South Solon.

Dad began Bussey Salvage Services in the late 1970’s until his health declined around 2015 where he moved in with his baby daughter April and family. To say he took retirement with a laidback attitude and smile would be so wildly farfetched. He didn’t know how to sit idle, he would always say, “Idle hands cause chaos”

If dad wasn’t in his work clothes, his signature style was Cowboy; always in his Western hat, Western Shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots. He tortured us girls with hours of John Wayne or Western movies. He was an avid reader where he hoarded stacks of Western books in the corner behind his recliner. Loved his Oldies but Goodies and Old Country music.

One of his passions was antique flea markets and swap meets where he would rope in one of his many family members to tag along. The only problem with “tagging along” was spending just a minute with Paul (Bucky) Bussey was it was always an adventure and not always a pleasant adventure. You may find yourself in the middle of No Where USA lost, out of gas, broken down, or praying for your life due to his EXCELLENT driving skills, or you may by chance get lucky and find the lost must have antique or stumble down a lost piece of heaven that time seemed to have left untouched. You never returned without a story, a memory, or many laughs.

Dad was most definitely meant to be a “girl dad”. He may have been 6’2 and slung junk around like it weighed nothing, but that never stopped him from allowing his girls to paint his toenails or for him to break out in Abba songs complete with hairbrush microphones or dances in the rain. He was a simple man or as we used to say “Daddy never was a Cadillac man” taught us to appreciate the simple things and never miss a chance to pay it forward. He had 3 rules/rule for us girls. 1. Have fun 2. Take chances and 3. Be accountable. Taught us love and family were the most important.

He will be missed immensely and though 83 years may seem like such a long time, they are but so short when we lose the ones we love.
