Peggy (Higgins) Beathard

October 12, 1948 — August 2, 2024

London

After a long courageous battle with breast cancer, Peggy Beathard, 75, passed away in her home (London, Ohio) Friday, August 2nd. Her loving daughter Heidi Beathard and sister Nancy Sachs were at her bedside. Peggy was a loving and generous mother, sister, cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt, and friend.

She was talented and had the gift of making friends with anyone and tackling anything she set her mind to. She was a clever seamstress starting by making 4-H projects as a young girl. She would make her own clothes for school in high school, which her sisters would “borrow”. She sewed her daughter’s school play costumes and made wool “Ladies Lead” outfits for her daughter’s and nieces’ events at the county fair.  She had a boisterous laugh known well to her loved ones. She was a hard worker and held a variety of jobs to support herself and her daughter. Peggy was employed by Klosterman’s Bakery, the US Census Bureau, Madison Health, The Madison Press and Time Warner Cable, just to name a few. Heidi remembers her mom proudly saying one year after working multiple jobs, “I was able to claim twelve W-2’s in one year!”

She was devoted to and so proud of her family. She was born October 12,1948 to Mary Ellen and J. Richard Higgins. She was a member of St. Patrick Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She is survived by her daughter Heidi Beathard, siblings Dan Higgins (Cathy), Kathy Higgins-Luthman (Michael), Nany Sachs (Larry), John Higgins, Ruth Roddy (Jim), Bill Higgins (Aparna) and Bob Higgins (Lisa).  Siblings predeceasing her were Jane Hodge (Rick) and Jim Higgins (Nadia).

According to her wishes, Peggy’s body was donated to The Ohio State University. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. If you wish to pay honor to Peggy Beathard, a donation to Madison Health Hospital, where she was treated and cared for throughout this journey, would be greatly appreciated.
