Ray Wesley Buchanan, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on April 15, 1943, in the outskirts of London, Ohio, the son of Robert and Alberta (Alltop) Buchanan. Ray's love for restoring vintage cars was well-known, earning accolades for his meticulously restored 1951 Chevy at various car shows. A passionate fisherman, he found peace by the waterside. As a truck driver for Grife Brothers Trucking, Ray’s versatile talents in plumbing and electrical work were highly regarded, making him a go-to for all manner of repairs. His knack for collecting odds and ends spoke to his curiosity and appreciation for the unique. In 1990, Ray found a soulmate in Mary Buchanan, cherishing a companionship that lasted beyond a marriage of many years. Besides his beloved wife, Mary, Ray leaves behind a legacy carried by his daughters, Stacey Buchanan, Kellie (Tim) Weiler, and Melanie Hunter, as well as his cherished sister, Thelma Sanders. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren – Abigail, Scott, Jenny, Kayla, Leah, and Gabe, along with many great-grandchildren. Ray's life was enriched by the presence of his best friends, Sebert Thompson, Dennis Klontz, and Bill Dunston. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Jr. and Gary, and brother in law Paul Sanders. In remembrance of Ray, a visitation will be held at Lynch Family Funeral Home, located at 124 East High Street, London, Ohio 43140, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Ray's departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet the memories of his enduring spirit and warmth will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
