Ruth S Cox

Ruth S. Cox, “Grandma Ruth” 95, of London, Ohio, left her loving family on June 27, 2024. Ruth was born July 8, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio. Ruth graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1946. She retired from Job and Family Services in 1988 after 30 years working as the receptionist. Ruth loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her joy in life was being with her family. Ruth loved people and never knew a stranger, she treated everyone with kindness and respect. Anyone that knew Ruth knew she loved shopping and was very fashionable with a passion for jewelry, shoes, and clothing. Ruth’s motto: “If the shoe fits, buy it” She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen (Buckerfield) Green, husband James Ford whom she married February 20, 1950. Husband Gordon Cox whom she married in 1960, brothers Joseph, Harry, and sisters, Joanne and Josephine. Survived by her loving daughters, Carole (Larry) Vance, Mary (Bob) Miller, Linda (Phil) DeFilippo and Kathy (Charlie) Butler. Also survived by grandchildren Jamie Miller, Jozlyn (Jeff) Hildebrand, Nick (Dennale) DeFilippo, Lindsy (Chad) Penn, Bryce (Ashley) Butler, Brittney Lipiec. Ruth is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jenny, Julianne, Montgomery, Beckett, Drake, Addie, Rylee, Macie, Connor, Harper and Grayson. Survived by siblings, Beverly, Florence, Bill, Buddy and sister-in-law Mary. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, from 9:30 AM until 10:30AM at Saint Patrick Parish Center, 61 S. Union Street, London, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Father Anthony Dinovo. Interment service will follow at the Saint Patrick Cemetery, S. Main Street, London. Ruth’s family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas TX 75284-0692.
