Sandra “Lynn” Caldwell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully at her home in Grove City, Ohio, on December 26, 2025. She had celebrated a joyful Christmas with family and friends.
Lynn was born on May 21, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, to Thomas and Marion Bohanan. A lifelong resident of Columbus, she attended John Burroughs Elementary and Middle School, where she formed friendships that would last a lifetime. She graduated from West High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. Lynn's dedicated her life to helping and caring for others with a remarkable forty-one-year nursing career, leaving a profound mark on all she cared for.
Her dedication to the nursing profession extended beyond retirement, as Lynn continued to volunteer in healthcare, embodying a spirit of service that touched countless lives. Colleagues and patients alike were touched by her kindness, dedication to compassionate care, and her commitment to mentoring the next generation of nurses.
Lynn spent her life in Columbus, actively serving her community through volunteer work. A deeply faithful Catholic, she lived with a spirit of service and kindness and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Grove City, where she participated in the nursing group and Parish Women’s Association.
Lynn treasured her family above all else. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marion Bohanan; her husband, Thomas C. Caldwell; her brother, Jack Bohanan; and her sister, Pat Hatton.
Lynn is survived by her son, Thomas L. Caldwell (wife Lori); her daughter, Machelle (Caldwell) Eppler; her grandchildren, Thomas B. Caldwell, Sara Kemper (husband Gregory), Leah Caldwell, and Carly Eppler-Porter (wife Chelsey); her great-grandchild, Carter Kemper; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Lynn’s memory to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or Christ College of Nursing, institutions that reflect her faith and dedication to helping others.
Her family invites friends and loved ones to gather for a funeral mass to celebrate her life and legacy. The mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located at 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, at 11:00 AM on January 8, 2026. Father Joe Yokum will officiate the service, guiding us through this heartfelt farewell.
Lynn will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to caring for others, her compassion and grace as a nurse, and the lasting impact she made on all who were fortunate to know her.
