She lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
A proud graduate of West Jefferson High School in the class of 1961, Shirley carried her strong work ethic into a diverse and accomplished career. She retired from the Madison County Auditor’s Office and served as a Deercreek Township Clerk for 43 years while simultaneously working at the historic Red Brick Tavern. Her professional journey also included roles at Tech Support, Daugherty Farm Drainage, and Doctors Bacon and Starr Elm St. Medical Office. She also served as a Board Member and active volunteer of the Madison County Senior Center. In every position she held, Shirley brought diligence and care that left a lasting impression on those with whom she worked.
Shirley’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. A lifelong Catholic, she was an active parishioner at both Saints Simon and Jude, and Saint Patrick Catholic Churches. Her involvement extended to the Altar and Rosary Society and the Bereavement Committee, where she devoted herself to serving others with grace and compassion.

Beyond her professional achievements and devotion to family life, Shirley found immense joy in hobbies that reflected her creativity and generosity. She was a prolific reader who delighted in exploring new worlds through books. Her green thumb made her an avid gardener whose lovely yard and landscaping brightened many lives. As a remarkable seamstress, she stitched pieces that were both fashionable and meaningful. Shirley also gave freely of her time as a dedicated volunteer for numerous local organizations. A seasoned traveler with an adventurous spirit, she embraced opportunities to explore new places while cherishing the comforts of home.
Those who knew Shirley will remember her radiant smile that lit up every room she entered and the sparkle in her big blue eyes that conveyed warmth and kindness. Her legacy is one of love - love for her faith, love for her family and friends, love for ongoing learning - and it will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
