Stephen Michael Ernst, passed away on April 6, 2026. Born on June 28, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, Steve was a cherished son of Emerson and Mary (Ryan) Ernst.
Steve was a proud graduate of London High School, Class of 1969. He embarked on a successful career, first with National City Bank, before spending many rewarding years at Goodyear Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. His work ethic and dedication were matched only by his commitment to his passions outside of work. Steve was a longstanding member of the London Aerie No. 950 Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he forged many lasting friendships. He enjoyed weekends spent golfing, evenings playing cards with friends, and passionately cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Tina (Cliff) Williams and Stephanie (John) Kessing, and his son, Stephen (Amanda) Ernst. Steve also leaves behind his beloved brother, Robert (Terry) Ernst, along with the joy of his grandchildren: Christy (Floyd) Gilmon, Aaron (Brooklin) Mabe, Jaret (Mya) Wood, Evan Kessing, Brennan Kessing, and Aston Ernst. His legacy will continue through his great grandchildren, Avery, Alexa, Jah’Riyah, and Zion. He was fortunate to have close friends, including David Saxour, Junior Dodds, Tim Hill, and Richard Cameron, who enriched his life and shared countless memories with him. He will also be remembered fondly by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his loving parents, as well as his brothers, Chris and Phil Ernst, and his beloved nieces, Brandy (Ernst) Keller and Jessica Ernst.
The family invites all who knew Steve to join them in celebrating his life. Friends will be received for visitation at St. Patrick Church Parish Center on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral mass will follow immediately at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick Church.
