Burtis Lee Scott

Burtis Lee Scott 64, of London died Friday, January 21, 2022, at Madison Health.

Burt was born October 28, 1957, in Columbus Ohio to Cloude Scott and Martha (Smith) Scott. Burt was a graduate of Madison Plains High School in 1977. Burt retired from Deer Creek Township after 20+ years of public service maintaining the roads and cemetery. Burt also farmed alongside his father-in-law Martin Wilson for many years. Burt was always there to help anyone in need. He was a volunteer fireman for the Central Township Fire Department in the 80s and 90s. Burt was awarded the 1995 Buckeye State Sheriff's Association Award of recognition for valuable contributions to the Madison County Sherriff’s Department and Community. Burt enjoyed playing Texas Hold’em and Euchre with friends whenever he could. Burt loved old tractors, especially Farmall’s. In recent years he enjoyed attending antique tractor, farm toy, and antique shows throughout Ohio with Norma at festivals. Burt loved his grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events as often as he could. Burt never knew a stranger and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Burt was preceded in death by his father Cloude Scott, mother-in-law Lorene Wilson, father-in-law Martin Wilson, Stepfather Lowell Kress, and many friends in recent years. Survived by his mother Martha Kress, wife Norma Scott, two children Barry Scott and Kelly (Mat) McLaughlin, Four grandchildren Payne Scott, Courtney Scott, Juniper McLaughlin, and Zach Scott, Brothers Curtis (Trish) Scott and Clayton Scott, sister Cloris (Harvey) Toops, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family will be having a graveside service at Deer Creek Township Cemetery 1255 US 40, London, Ohio 43140 on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11:00am with Pastor Wayne Stuntz officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you honor Burt by donating to the Madison County Senior Center 280 W High Street, London, Ohio 43140, where Burt loved to play cards.
