Charles Terrill Hay M.D., 91, of London, died peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. Dr. Hay was born November 14, 1931, in West Jefferson, Ohio, the son of Charles Paul and June Etta (Millholland) Hay.
Dr. Hay dedicated his life to the practice of medicine- specifically, in Madison County. Dr. Hay was a member of the Air Force ROTC, put himself through college, graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1957 and served as an Air Force surgeon before beginning his medical career in Madison County. He worked hard to better his community as one of the original doctors at Madison County Hospital. He was recognized by the state legislature for 50 years of service at Madison County Hospital/Madison Health, opened the Elm Street Medical Center, and was instrumental in the opening of Madison Elms.
Dr. Hay said his callings were medicine and his family and he took pride in mentoring young doctors. He was a past Master Mason and was recognized for 70 years this past September. He was a member of the Van Darby Club, Kiwanis, and Madison County Fish and Game. It was no surprise that Dr. Hay was noted for his wonderful bedside manner because he was known by all who met him as a compassionate man.
