Charles Roger Hutchins

Charles Roger Hutchins, 90, of 5 McDaniel Court; London, Ohio, peacefully passed away on July 21st surrounded by his wife and children.

Charles was born on January 5, 1931, to Harry and Ruby Hutchins in Lexington, Kentucky. After Charles graduated from Silver Grove High School, Silver Grove Kentucky, in 1950, he pursued a long and dedicated career in the U.S. Military.

After years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force, Charles joined the Ohio National Guard and spent the next years as active guard with the 178th Tactical Fighter Wing in Springfield, Ohio. During his service Charles was present at one of the A- Bomb tests, earned the prestigious Air Force Commendation Medal, and achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant Grade E9, the highest rank an enlisted member can attain.

Charles loved his years of service in the military. Other favorites of his were, fishing, hunting, working on cars, and caring for his lawn.

Charles met Maxine Mahaney while attending school in Silver Grove. They were married in 1952. Charles and Maxine went on to have 5 children, Leta, Debbie, Roger, Jeff, and Carey.

Charles retired in 1984 after 34 years in the Military.

Charles was preceded in death by his Father Harry Hutchins (Covington, KY), Mother Ruby Duvall (Vanceburg, KY), and Brother Raymond Hutchins (Louisville, KY). He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Maxine Hutchins (London, OH), Sister Dee Tolle (Erlanger, KY), Daughters: Leta (Adron) Combs (Defiance, Ohio), Debbie (Brian) Vassallo (Mechanicsburg, Ohio), Sons: Charles Roger II (Bonnie) Hutchins (Ft. Meyers, FL), Jeff (Sally) Hutchins (Circleville, OH), Carey Hutchins (Mount Gilead, OH), 17 Grand- Children, 41 Great Grand- Children, and 3 Great Great Grand- Children.

Visitation will be held at Lynch Family Funeral Home on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 5pm- 7pm where a funeral service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 11am with Senior Pastor Jerry Poff officiating. A procession to follow.

Internment is yet to be determined at Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
