Dale Shoemaker, 88, of London, Ohio passed peacefully at home on Thursday morning May 11, 2023. Dale was born at home in Lafayette, Ohio on December 02, 1934, the son of William Shoemaker and Louise (Lankford Shoemaker) Kobliski. Dale was a graduate of London High School. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and was assigned as a High Speed Radio Operator stationed in Japan. Upon returning home, he was employed for 41 years at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus and at the West Jefferson site as a Sr. Master Technician. Dale was a self-taught Welder and became certified while working for Battelle. Dale could fix or build anything. His side jobs included farming, home repairs and remodeling, electrician, plumber, and numerous repairs on cars, trucks, combines, and tractors. He especially enjoyed hunting pheasant, turkey, deer, and coyotes, as well as going boating and fishing. Dale was a lifelong member of the NRA. He was a current member of the American Legion and he was also part of the AmVets. Dale was married 54 years to Loretta Jean (Sidner) Shoemaker (deceased). Dale is survived by sons: Kevin Bret Shoemaker of London and Adam Price (Tracy) Shoemaker of Grove City, and daughters: Melanie (Bob) Smith and Tami Howard, both of London. Dale is survived by grandchildren: Kevin (Bridgett) Shoemaker, Holly (Shawn) Salyer, Emily Graves(Jacob Ballard), Shanda (John) Horace, all of London; Justin Shoemaker of Florida, Abbey (Ryan) Moore of Grove City, and Jordan (Kelli) Shoemaker of Marysville; also, step-grandchildren, Mandy (Tim) Vacik of Roaming Shores and Nathan (Becca) Smith of Circleville. Dale is also survived by great-grandchildren: Bradley Salyer, Samahra Horace, Jazira Horace, Matthew Mackan, Katherine Mackan (fiance, Austin Citrigno), and Haley Smith. Dale was predeceased by his parents, by his wife, Loretta Jean (Sidner) Shoemaker, and by his sister, Janet Vanover, and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Norman Lowery. The Shoemaker Family would like to give special thanks to Ohio's Hospice Loving Care and their nurses for their special care and services provided during this critical time.
