James Rolfes

James (Jim) Rolfes Sr. 79, of London Ohio passed away on December 29, 2021. He was born May 21, 1942, in Providence Rhode Island, raised in Cincinnati until moving to London in 1976.

He graduated from Purcell High School, the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in business management and received his Juris Doctor degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky State College.

Jim had been an assistant Prosecutor, acting judge for three Judges in Municipal court, and maintained a general law practice as a sole practitioner in Madison County, Ohio.

Jim is survived by his wonderful and patient wife Dorothy (Robison) Rolfes, two outstanding sons: John G. (Kami) Rolfes Sr. of Logan, Ohio and James W. Rolfes Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; his loving grandchildren: Racheal Rolfes (Tim Lykins), Jennifer Rolfes (Whitney Wells), John G. Rolfes Jr., Joseph Rolfes, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Anderson; several great-grandchildren: Jayden, Xander, Hayden, Ashton, Trenton, Chad Jr., Haven, Emmalyn, and Avery; two sisters: Margaret Rolfes of Cincinnati, Ohio and Helen (Holly) Rolfes of Savannah, Georgia.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Mary Helen (Clark) Rolfes and George H. Rolfes Sr. and brother George H. (Janet) Rolfes Jr.

He belonged to several organizations and held various offices including Ohio and Madison County Bar Association, Knights of Columbus, Father Ready Council 1786 and Columbus Assembly 2727, Madison County Lodge 70, 100F, and he was a Kentucky Colonel.

Services have been entrusted to Lynch Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service of London with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pursuant to Jim’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Saint Patrick Church, London, with Father Michael Hinterschied officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to the Madison Health Foundation, 210 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140, or the Madison County Senior Center, 280 West High Street, London, Ohio.
