James “Jim” Lee Adelsberger, 93, of West Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Madison Health Hospital. Jim was a farmer in Madison County all of his life. He grew up raising Angus beef cattle, hogs, chickens as well as grain. He loved to travel to hunt turkey and deer. He graduated from Monroe High School in Plumwood in 1946. Jim was a member and served on the Board of Directors for Madison County Farm Bureau and Landmark. He was a volunteer firefighter and helped start the Newport Central Township Fire Department. Jim was a lifetime supporter of Madison County 4-H and FFA. Jim exceeded the definition of a farmer, neighbor, friend, and role model. He always took time to ask about others and put those he cared about above himself. His heart was so big and kind while having a grin and laugh that was contagious to all. One of his biggest accomplishments was his marriage to his loving wife Elizabeth Anne Reed Adelsberger. The couple got married on January 3, 1948, and were married for 73 years. Together they have four children, Bob (Shirley) Adelsberger, Tom (Christina) Adelsberger, Richard (Cheryl) Adelsberger, and Annette (Dave) Rinesmith. Jim proceeded in death by parents Ralph and Nellie Adelsberger, special in-laws Ernest and Florence Reed, brothers Ralph Jr. and John Adelsberger, sister-in-law Marie and Joan Adelsberger, brother-in-law Bob Sullivan and nephews Paul Adelsberger, Jim Sullivan, and John Sullivan. Jim left behind his loving wife, sister-in-law, 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, and many special friends. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Lynch Family Funeral Home from 11 am-1 pm. The Funeral will begin at 1 pm and interment following at Plumwood Cemetery.
