John Calvary Adkins, 86, of Hilliard, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at The Ashford at Sturbridge. John was born November 3, 1936, in Denton, Kentucky, the son of Cappy Adkins and Alice (Waugh) Alter.
John was an Army veteran who served in Germany. He retired after working seven days a week for many years at Techniglass as a foreman or as a tv producer as he liked to tell many people. John worked out every day and when he found the time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved attending his son’s baseball games and his grandson’s many golf matches. His grandson said he was a professional golf ball finder while attending those golf matches. John was defined by all that knew him as the prime example as a man, father, grandfather, and friend.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Barbara (Jenkins) Adkins; Children: Judith (Tim) Sheehy and John (Traci) Adkins; Siblings: Jeannie Jenkins, Carole Murnane, and Clarence Fred (Grace) Alter; Grandchildren: Jennifer (Sam) Petee, Jason (Regina) Sheehy, Eric (Angela) Ransburgh; Great Grandchildren: Jacob and Allison Petee, Marli, Aiden, Nathan, and Evelyn Ransburgh; Numerous nieces and nephews; Sister-in- law Eileen Adkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Brother: James David Adkins; Brothers- in- law: Robert Jenkins and John Murnane
The family invites friends to call at the Lynch Family Funeral Home, 124 East High Street, London, Ohio 43140, on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 5:00pm- 7:00pm where a funeral will be officiated by Pastor Ed Akers on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Plumwood Cemetery.
