Robert Sark “Bob” Rea, 80, of London, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the Bluebird Retirement Community, London. Bob was born April 17, 1942, in Corning, New York, the son of Matthew T. and Bette S (Sark) Rea.
Bob graduated from Madison South High School. He then attended the University of Michigan where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Physics and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Virginia. He was an alumnus of IBM and once retired started his second career at Wright State University, fulfilling his lifelong desire to teach. Once he was officially retired, Bob could invest all his energy in playing guitar, walking, traveling, biking, taking pictures, and volunteering at the London Visual Arts Guild.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years: Patricia Shannon Rea; his children: M.T. Rea of Woodbridge, Virginia; Colin Michael (Jennifer) Rea of Eugene, Oregon; Katie (Mike) Hensel of Mount Sterling; Tori (Kevin) Shumway of Dayton; sister: Karen (Paul) Rarey of Florida; grandchildren: Ailsa, Kiki, Griffin, Ethan, Emma, Landyn, and Clayton; a niece: Kir (Dave) Witt and a nephew: Lama Eric Trieblehorn: numerous Friends, Acquaintances, and Astonished Onlookers. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Matty and Bette Rea, and his brother, Larry.
Bob’s family invites friends to call the Lynch Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 124 E. High St, London, Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 10, 2023, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to Lynchfamilyfuneralhome@gmail.com.
