Stanley Joseph Kavy Jr., 74, of London, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 18, 2023, at Madison Health Hospital. Stanley was born May 27, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Stanley Joseph Sr. and Ida Marie (Poplis) Kavy.
Stanley was part of four generations of Buckeyes and a proud Alumni of The Ohio State University. After 40 plus years he was still actively working as a farm manager and appraiser. Family was Stan’s number one priority, and he enjoyed bragging about all his grandchildren and he was their biggest supporter, whether it was a sporting or academic event he wouldn’t miss it. It was said that he loved anything outdoors, which included camping, fishing, hunting, and watching birds come up to his many bird feeders. Stan had a true calling to be involved in his community, he served on London City Council, London Board of Public Utilities, was a long-time coach for LABC, and was active at St. Patrick’s Church in London where he had become a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Diana Sue (Grusenmeyer) Kavy; Children: Greg Kavy, Jennifer (Collin) Abels, and Melissa (John) Bryant; Grandchildren: Gage Kavy, Ryleigh Bexfield, Ashton Hawk- Kavy, Taylor Bryant, Hunter Kavy, Mya Bryant, Brianna Abels, Allyson Abels, Brock Bryant, and Katelyn Abels; Sister: Christina Kavy; Numerous nieces, nephews, brothers in law, and sisters in law; Special “daughters”: Stacy, Toby, Alyssa, and Julie; Special “brother “: Bruce.
Stanley is preceded in death by his Parents; Son: Mark Kavy; and Brother: John Kavy.
The family invites friends to call at the Lynch Family Funeral Home, 124 E. High Street, London, Ohio, 43140, Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00am, with Father Anthony Dinovo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stanley’s memory to the London Area Baseball Council, LABC, P.O. Box 23, London, Ohio 43140.
Stanley’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lynch Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
